Why I Started ROARA
Growing up Dominican, I believed I had "pelo malo," or bad hair. Relaxing and straightening my hair was normal for me, and it wasn't until high school, when my hair became so damaged that I did the big chop, that I had to learn how to care for my natural curls on my own and find confidence in them along the way. I created ROARA because I don't want children to have to wait until they're older to learn to love their curls. I want them to grow up confident in their hair and carry that confidence with them as they grow. I also want that care to reach people who may not have access to the curly hair products they need, which is why $5 from every hoodie sold goes toward providing curly and textured hair products to homeless shelters. Whether you're a child learning to love your curls or someone going through a difficult time, we all deserve to feel beautiful and cared for.
